The story usually starts in a garage. This is what the garage turned into: a building in California with the name on a sign out front, and a crew inside building wheels one at a time.

Everything happened under that roof. Centers and rim barrels stacked on racks, welded together in curtained bays, trued and trimmed on the lathe, painted, hung to dry, then boxed and put on a truck. Nothing left the building unfinished and nothing came back with somebody else's work in it. Look at how many hands are in frame, that was the process, not a staging choice. Nobody was art-directing a spray booth.

If you knew, you knew.
