SAFEGUARD YOUR WARRANTY—read these instructions before installing your Jackman Wheels. Make sure that you have selected the proper tire and wheel combination.
CAUTION: If larger tires are used, undue pressure will be placed on the wheel rim (bead) and can cause severe damage and possible fracture of the rim. Conventional tire mounting equipment can be used with all Jackman Wheels; however care must be taken not to mar the wheel. (Aluminum will mar more easily than steel.) Use care during mounting and you will preserve the beauty of your Jackman Wheels.
1. Before mounting the wheel inspect for any obstructions, (lock clips, rivets, balancing weights, etc.). Remove or resolve any obstruction which prevents a flush fit between the wheel and axle hub. Inspect to verify that the clearance of all suspension members is adequate and that the wheel does not touch or interfere with the suspension. 2. Occasionally some clearance problems may require the use of a wheel spacer. When using wheel spacers, be certain to select the proper spacer and verify that the spacer is the proper thickness for your needs. Caution—when using oversize tires, the use of a spacer may only serve to transfer the interference from the suspension (in-board) to the fender (outboard). Inspect to verify that this condition is not present. Some wheel sizes in 14 and 15 inch are intended for racing use and may require a specific tire for that purpose. Tire recommendations in these areas of the chart are not necessarily a racing tire and therefore should not be used for that purpose unless they meet your specific performance specifications for racing use. JACKMAN WHEEL ET AL DOES NOT RECOMMEND ANY 'WHEEL SPACER' BE USED ON-ROAD, FOR OFF-ROAD USE ONLY. All Wheel Spacers come with their own Use / Warranty 3. Clean all studs and their threads before any installation. Check the stud length to insure the proper fit and tightening of the wheel. A. Inspect the hand-tightened lug nut to see that the lug does not bot-tom out before it makes contact with the wheel and secures the wheel properly. If the lug does not secure the wheel before it becomes tight, wheel spacers are probably required or use a lug nut with a shorter shank. B. Minimum thread engagement must be at least one times the diameter of the stud i.e., the typical thread engagement for a 1/2” x 20 thread would be a minimum of 1/2" of thread. Again, if spacers are used, be certain that the spacer is in place during this inspection. JACKMAN WHEEL ET AL DO NOT RECOMMEND ANY 'WHEEL SPACER' BE USED ON-ROAD, FOR OFF-ROAD USE ONLY. 4. Install air valve stem. When installing the valve stem on the wheel, care must be taken to insure proper fit and non-leakage. 5. Mounting the Tire to the Wheel: Conventional tire mounting equipment may be used to mount Jackman Wheels; however extra care must be taken to protect the bead and finish of the wheel from damage. When installing the tire, use a good tire tube; this will make installation easier and will lessen the danger of wheel damage. DO NOT FORCE THE INSTALLATION AS THIS COULD DAMAGE THE WHEEL BEAD. VERY IMPORTANT — Do not over-pressurize. Do not inflate the tire over the maximum rating of 60 P.S.I, (40 P.S.I. in California). Under no circumstances should these ratings be exceeded. 6. Mounting of Tire and Wheel to the Vehicle: Inspect wheel and tire clearance one final time prior to installation. A. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD HIGH POWERED IMPACT WRENCHES BE USED TO SECURE LUG NUTS; this can cause wheel damage and can also result in improper lug nut torque. B. Lubricate the area of the lug nut thread opening (the head). Do not lubricate lug nut threads or the stud threads. C. Run all lugs up fully before tightening. D. Tighten all lug nuts using a criss cross pattern to assure the even distribution of pressure while tightening the lug nuts. 7. Care and Cleaning of Your Wheels: Basic wheel cleaning should be done with mild soap and water. Do not steam clean the wheels—this could cause damage to the finish. 8. Wheel Accessories: Jackman Wheels is planning a complete line of wheel accessories to complement your Jackman Wheels. Hub caps, lug nuts, locking lug nuts and more check online for future availability.
